Rural Housing Enabler - Part Time - £35,147 (Pro-rata) 3 days / 21 hours per week

I am currently seeking a part-time Rural Housing Enabler (21 hours per week) to join Action in rural Sussex, based in East Sussex on a 12-month fixed term contract (with an intention to extend). As the Rural Housing Enabler, you will be working with all key stakeholders, offering advice, support, and identifying solutions for communities to deliver locally affordable housing, across Sussex. The successful candidate will ideally be based in or around the Lewes, East Sussex area with travel to a range of sites within the Sussex.

The successful Rural Housing Enabler will be responsible for:
Engaging and working in partnership with communities / community leaders, parish councils, district and county authorities, landowners, developers, housing organisations, agents, planners, and other partners to bring forward rural affordable housing projects across East and West Sussex.
Working in conjunction with other members of the Sussex Community Housing Hub (SCHH) Team to deliver locally affordable housing – through rural exception sites, community led housing initiatives, Section 106 provision, existing property acquisition and regeneration.
Working with the Senior Rural Housing Enabler and Community Led Housing Manager in the delivery of rural affordable housing.

The ideal Rural Housing Enabler will have:
At least two years working in housing; development or management, community development or similar areas of work.
A level 3 Qualification or above ideally a degree in a relevant subject; housing, planning, geography, community development or equivalent demonstrable qualification and work experience.
Experience working with local authorities, parish councils, housing associations and similar organisations.
Experience in Community development and engagement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Driving license or access to private means of transport or ability to demonstrate how they will meet this requirement.

Post graduate degree or certificate in relevant subject: housing, planning, and community development.
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

In return, the successful Rural Housing Enabler will be offered a salary up to £35,147 (pro rata) plus package.
